Dazu haben wir diesen Monat zwar keinen Gast, aber die drei Hobbyköche des Science Pub Quiz als Moderatoren! Wir kochen euch diesen Monat ein Süppchen aus den beliebtesten Fragenkategorien, garniert mit Geheimtipps aus der Küche. This month it's gonna get steamy at the Science Pub Quiz! For our last Quiz before the summer break we want to take you into the science of cooking. This time we won't have a guest - instead, the three Pub Quiz team members/aspiring chefs will be your hosts! As always, our bread and butter question categories will be featured, with the cream of the crop of new questions. We'll even spice things up with some kitchen life hacks. Unser Gast ist Werner Aeschbach! Er leitet den Forschungsbereich „Aquatische Systeme“ des Instituts für Umweltphysik der Universität Heidelberg. Von 2012 – 2017 war er Direktor des Heidelberg Center for the Environment (HCE). Seine Forschungsgebiete umfassen physikalische Prozesse in Seen und Grundwasser, Wasserressourcen, sowie Paläoklima, Ozean- und Eisforschung. Werner Aeschbach ist Mitglied des Beirats der Scientists for Future und engagiert sich für die öffentliche Kommunikation von Klimawissenschaft.

Our guest is Werner Aeschbach! He directs the research on Aquatic Systems at the Institute for Environmental Physics at the University Heidelberg. From 2012 until 2017, he was the director of the Heidelberg Center for the Environment (HCE). He does research on physical processes in lakes and ground water, and investigates water resources, the paleoclimate, ocean and ice systems. He is a board member of Scientists for Future and enganges in the public communication of climate sciences.

Das Science Pub Quiz - mit Gast, Spielen und einem unnützen Preis!

Unser Gast dieses Mal: Der Leipziger Künstler Philipp Kanwischer setzte sich gegen über 170 andere Bewerbungen durch und wird im Herbst 2021 im Rahmen einer zweimonatigen Artist Residency Heidelberg besuchen. Die Residency wurde vom Kalamari Klub und dem IsoQuant ausgeschrieben, um Kunst zwischen Quantenphysik und analoger Fotografie zu inspirieren. Philipp Kanwischer studierte Fotografie an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig und an der Accademia di Belle Arti in Napoli, Italien. In seinen Arbeiten verknüpft Kanwischer Bild und Textmaterial zu narrativen Raumsituationen und thematisiert dabei u.a. die Wahrnehmung von Katastrophen und das Sannungsverhältnis zwischen Mensch und Natur. Seine Werke wurden in zahlreichen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen gezeigt.

The Science Pub Quiz - Art edition!

This month’s guest: Leipzig-based artist Philipp Kanwischer. He was selected for a two-month artist residency offered by IsoQuant and Kalamari Klub to create art inspired by quantum physics and analog photography. Philip Kanwischer, born 1991 in Bamberg, Germany, studied photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig, Germany and at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Napoli, Italy. In his work he combines images and text into narrative installations, studying the perception of catastrophic events and the tense relation between human and nature. His works have been included in numerous solo and group shows. He lives and works in Leipzig, Germany.

Das Science Pub Quiz - mit Gast, Spielen und einem unnützen Preis! Diesmal gibt’s ein Thema: Beim Science Pub Quiz “after dark” geht’s um Sex, Pheromone und Attraktion.

Unser Gast: Janina Otto! Die Humanbiologin erklärt auf Science-Slam-Bühnen, ob es Pheromone wirklich gibt, redet über Schweiß und klärt auf, ob Stripperinnen wirklich während ihres Eisprungs mehr Geld verdienen. Ihre Vorträge brachten sie schon dazu, vor Angela Merkel in Mexiko zu reden und als Gast bei der KiKa-Sendung “Princesses of Science” aufzutreten.

This month’s Science Pub Quiz has a topic - we will do our first Science Pub Quiz “after dark”. We will talk about sex, pheromones and attraction.

For this, we were able to invite the perfect guest: The biologist Janina Otto explains on Science Slam stages if pheromones actually exist, talks about sweat and debunks if strippers earn more money during ovulation. Her career in science communication lead her to talk in Mexiko with Angela Merkel in the audience and secured her a guest spot in the KiKa program “Princesses of Science”.

Join us for a special edition of the Science Pub Quiz - organized with the Cluster Science of Intelligence (SCIoI) and streamed live from the Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften Berlin!

What is intelligence? Do beets float in water? Can you guess the animal from the sounds it makes? Why should you pet your basil?
